Red Spiny Oyster Earrings Native American Navajo - Lydia Begay
The spiny oyster is these earrings is beautiful! The color is beautifully striated shades of reds. They are framed with Lydia Begay's unusual silver work. These earrings are signed with her "B" on it's side hallmark and sterling.
Spiny oyster comes in many shades, but most common are the oranges, reds, and purples. I've been told that the difference in colors is due to diet and I've also been told it's due to the depth where the oyster lived. I'm no expert on oysters, but I do know the color is all natural and not enhanced... and this red is particularly beautiful!
Measurements: A little over 1 3/4" top to bottom, including the ear wire x 3/4" wide

Protect your jewelry from harsh chemicals and solvents as they can damage turquoise and other stones. I recommend using a Sunshine Cloth or similar to polish your silver. Do not immerse or subject your jewelry to running water as it can dislodge the stone from the setting.
